WHY HAD I NOT STUMBLED INTO YOUR BLOG BEFORE I ENROLLED?

This is basically what I've been posting on review sites:

MENTE ARGENTINA = Highway robbery!

I took the cooking course in Dec 2010 - Jan 2011, my classmate and I were very disappointed it almost seemed like a joke. Before coming to Argentina, I was told we were going to learn in a cooking school, instead we ended up cooking in a studio apartment with a poorly kept kitchen. A month after the program, we still do not have the recipes to the meals we made because apparently, the teacher/"chef" is still on holidays.

The apartment they put you in is far from the "1st class" type they market. No airconditioning, and fans were given only after you request for them (my poor flat mates had to wait for more than a week before they even got a fan!). If you're staying for less than 6 weeks, you will most likely be placed in a cupboard of a room. Or the maid's quarter. But you still pay the same price as everyone else.

I did not enroll in their language school (and thank goodness for that) but those who did told me that it was no good either. They ended up taking a course elsewhere on the side or after their program with Mente.

Foreign students can put together their own program at a much cheaper price and get better quality.

Such a rip off!Pia Montehttp://www.holafrombuenosaires.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4165072780025398436.post-41189830791977463392011-02-09T21:44:13.692-08:002011-02-09T21:44:13.692-08:00So what is it then?!Actually my mum does a pretty ...So what is it then?!

Actually my mum does a pretty good job of pointing out the typos, and Orla helps me with the apostrophe'sJoe Cocozzahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06393778399567387974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4165072780025398436.post-72772906746287803742011-02-03T00:35:57.286-08:002011-02-03T00:35:57.286-08:00It's an opinion on a geographical place though...It's an opinion on a geographical place though, Mark! Personal opinions on places are a bit too subjective to be criticised - better go for broke and base any counter-criticism solely on your own blinkered view of what you imagine other people must be like. You'll sound really worldly then, and people will really respect you I'm sure. The American secret bombing of Cambodia in the early seventies created the conditions for the Pol Pot regime to take power. 50% more bombs were dropped on Cambodia than on Japan in WWII. The US bombed Cambodian villages for 173 consecutive days in 1973. After Pol Pot was defeated by the Vietnamese in 1979 the US continued to support him with a seat on the UN. Kissinger continues to live a normal life.Steve Reillynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4165072780025398436.post-69949628335114866482010-12-16T00:31:44.363-08:002010-12-16T00:31:44.363-08:00Amen to the travelling.Amen to the travelling.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4165072780025398436.post-17009361027684769202010-11-29T02:23:35.350-08:002010-11-29T02:23:35.350-08:00Alice is correct, you have such a fantastic writin...Alice is correct, you have such a fantastic writing style Joe. Your blogs are always a great read and something I enjoy dipping into when I have a spare moment. The most interesting ones for me are when you write about places I too have visited, as then I can see how well you manage to encapsulate the essence of a place. As an added bonus, you've saved the world from having to read my travel blog, as after reading yours I couldn't bring myself to publish the garbage I would be writing!

Regarding the experience of travelling on your own, I hate to admit it (as a lone traveller) but I think the 'beautiful moments of life' are made even more so when shared.
